Daring to Dream

A few years ago I had a friend who had gone through some really difficult setbacks. They had lost their job. They had fallen into depression. They had become stuck. They felt powerless. Then their path crossed with someone who encouraged them with these interesting words:  "Let your heart dream again." Eventhough, initially, these words sounded trite, they slowly bumped around and took root. Color began to displace the gray. Hope grew. Now this friend is on a much different path, well on the way to seeing dreams become reality, my friend learned this powerful lesson: "To allow yourself to nurture a dream has healing properties."
As we turn to face 2010, it is my prayer that all who read this blog will hold firmly to their dream and face the future with hope in their heart.
Here are 10 keys that's sure to fill your dreams with fresh air :

1. Commit to your dream
2. Believe in yourself
3.Think differently
4.Take action
5.Develop great people skills
6.Stay with your strengths
7.Get out of your comfort zone
8.Never stop learning
9.Never give up
These are from John C. Maxwell 's book Dare to Dream..

In launching the Durham Drems Project, and working towards recording the stories of commitment and dedication in rebuilding Durham, these ten points have certainly characterized the lives of those who have dared to believe in Durham's future.

What about your dream? Are you commited to it? Have you firmly gripped it so as to not let it blow out from your hands? What's your dream for 2010?
